INSIDE THE MAG: TOME

Joy, joy, joy. That was the order of the day at Tome's Spring 2017 RTW show at New York Fashion Week; while not the unbridled, loose-cannon happiness you might see at other shows, this was undoubtedly euphoric and face-to-the-sky optimistic. 

"It was our fifth birthday this year, so we go to celebrate. We injected a sense of joy throughout the collection with frills and frippery at the shoulders, cuffs and hems," says Ramon Martin, one half of the brand's design duo. To mark five years in the biz – a feat for any brand – he and creative partner Ryan Lobo sent out a stream of their trademark tailored pieces in geometric patterns, plaids and houndstooth, with a little crimson and textural floral, too.

It made many equally happy to see the casting for the show, such a diverse representation of women's beauty. Models of colour from varying backgrounds, a transgender woman, a curvy model and another in her 60s. "There was a celebratory mood all round," Ramon says.
